Respect the Jack-O'-Lantern!

Is it possible for Halloween jack-o’-lanterns and Christmas tree lights to be sitting side-by-side on store shelves? Alas, it's true. So how about giving Halloween some respect? Resolve to let this week be only about spooks, goblins, wacky witches, and ghastly ghosts. Let kids help put pumpkins on doorsteps, hang up fluttering bats and scary spiders, and pull fake cobwebs around doorways and windows. Raid closets and the dress-up box to create costumes from clothes you already have. Homemade is best, or trade costumes with other families.

Get a head start this year on creating a super spooky homemade Halloween by checking out the easy ideas in’s downloadable Halloween cookbook. You’ll also find more than 320 Halloween recipes for treats to tempt hungry ghosts and zombies. You can even stir up some homemade Halloween face paint to really scare up some fun. Download these nifty pumpkin carving templates and plan a pumpkin carving party.
